Artifact
With this artifact I have created a video tutorial that explains how students can log in and use Nearpod. This is a learning platform that many teachers in my school use but which some were also unfamiliar with. I created the video to demonstrate how students could access and navigate a Nearpod lesson. I learned more about the video after attending several online workshops with Nearpod this summer. It was included in a series of videos that formed a bank of resources for teachers to use as we prepared to teach remotely via Zoom. This video models exploration and curation of a new learning platform to enhance online learning through new digital tools.
Reflection
I have been interested in the integration of technology and education for a long time. I have become a Google Level 1 Certified Educator and have been a mentor to other teachers in the school. More recently however, with the onset of Covid19 I focused on identifying excellent platforms to deliver remote instruction. This has included the best platforms to create online tutorials, collaborative tools, and other methods to deliver instruction and capture dance more effectively. The programs I have explored and mentored teachers in include Flipgrid, Nearpod, the Google Suite, and Padlet. All of these activities align with the performance standards of 2a and 2c. I have also adopted platforms like Nearpod which allow students to with diverse needs to have much greater levels of accessibility through many of their interfaces with other programs approaches the performance indicator 2b. I am committed to continue expanding my knowledge of educational technology, sharing it with my colleagues and modeling it for my students.
